Background
As you may know, FERC is currently working to develop a National Action Plan on Demand Response. FERC is undertaking this effort pursuant to direction provided by Congress in the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
The legislation requires that the plan not only address things like technical assistance and resources that would help ramp up demand response but also how development of a national communications effort would help. FERC is required to submit a plan to Congress by June 18, 2010.
During 2009 FERC consulted with a variety of stakeholders and experts on development of the Plan. Late in 2009, it released a Discussion Draft of the Plan and held a Technical Conference in Washington to receive input on it. As part of the Technical Conference, a number of breakout sessions were held to allow participants to "drill down" on various aspects of the Discussion Draft and eventual Action Plan.
